Manchester United will open Saul Niguez talks if Pogba leaves
According to transfer news from Daily Star, Manchester United will open talks over Saul Niguez if Paul Pogba leaves. The Frenchman’s future at United is the subject of speculation. Provided he leaves, United have kept Saul as a potential replacement.
Manchester United have a huge headache with Pogba’s situation. The midfielder is arguably in his peak form for both club and county, but has just one year left on his current deal at Old Trafford. A stellar campaign for France on a personal level in the Euros has only amped up the interest in the enigmatic French star.
So far, Pogba has shown no sign of committing to a new deal at United. That leaves United with very little to do in this case. PSG are the club that have shown the most interest as Pogba also wants that move. Should Pogba leave the club this summer, United will open talks with Atletico Madrid over a transfer for Saul.
United have long held an interest in the 26-year-old Spaniard as Atletico are open to getting him off their books. Saul is also likely to be a cheaper alternative to other targets such as Declan Rice. It is understood that Atletico would accept offers of around £50m for their star midfielder.
