Fans react as Manchester United hand Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a new contract

Manchester United have produced a double whammy with the new contract announcement of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Fans have hardly settled in with the news of Sancho’s arrival but United have dropped another bit of great news. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has officially been handed a new contract until 2024.

Solskjaer has done a good job to date despite what others may say. United finished second in the league and also played in the Europa League quarter-finals. Yes, there have been some lows such as the cup exits but overall, he has done a very good job with the players available to him.

One of the biggest sticking points about his tenure so far has been the lack of trophies, with Solskjaer losing a final, 4 semi-finals and a quarter-final. United have been on a barren run since 2017. The squad needed some work and is now in much better shape.

Solskjaer’s current deal was set to end within a year. However, the club hierarchy has put their backing in the Norwegian to carry forward the legacy of the club. He is also being backed in the transfer market, which is good to see.
