Transfer News: Manchester United pondering over the future of Facundo Pellistri
According to transfer news from SportWitness, Manchester United are pondering over the future of Facundo Pellistri. It was initially understood that another loan deal would be the best option. But his performance against Derby County in the preseason friendly has prompted a rethink on the club’s part.
The winger spent the second half of last season on loan at Deportivo Alaves. He was signed by the club last summer but after the arrival of Amad Diallo in January, he was sent on loan to the La Liga side. It was decided that Pellistri would benefit from some first-team football after mostly playing for the U-23s during the initial months.
The South American made 12 appearances for Alaves as they narrowly avoided relegation. While he did not manage to get a goal or assist, his overall performance was satisfactory. Back at United now, Pellistri was handed a chance to impress against Derby County.
Capping it off with his first goal, Pellistri looked really solid in the 45 minutes he was handed. Alaves are open to bringing the player back on loan and United were also looking for something like that especially with the competition on the side. However, that cameo against Derby has forced the club to reassess the situation, meaning that they are yet to decide on his future.

Pellistri is very unlikely to get a crack at regular football if he stays at United next season. It’s optimistic to hope that he can prove that wrong, however, there are other factors to consider. United recently signed Jadon Sancho and the attack is pretty much set. Heading out on loan might just be the best-case scenario for him.
