Paul Pogba will let his Manchester United contract run down
According to ESPN (h/t Express), Paul Pogba is looking to run down his Manchester United contract and take a decision next season. A return to Juventus might be on the cards as the Frenchman stalls on a new deal despite being in the final year of his current contract.
Manchester United have a huge headache with Pogba’s situation. The midfielder is arguably in his peak form for both club and county with just one year left on his current deal. A stellar campaign for France on a personal level in the Euros has only amped up the interest in the enigmatic French star.
Talks over a new deal have not proved to be fruitful as the World Cup winner bides his time. Pogba will be free to talk to other clubs over a free transfer starting from January 2022. That means United are severely low on their options and selling him during this transfer window is one of them. Juventus have expressed interest in their former player and could offer Cristiano Ronaldo in a swap deal.
However, in a blow to Manchester United and Solskjaer’s plans, Pogba will play out the remaining year of his United contract. He will then take a call on his future next summer.

While Pogba has not given any indication of wanting to move away, it should worry United if he plays through the final year of his deal. The club could run a real risk of losing him for nothing as soon as January. United will be hoping that the new signings and Solskjaer’s project is appealing enough for Pogba to stay back.
