Manchester United make Kalidou Koulibaly bid despite Varane interest
According to transfer news from Express, Manchester United have made a bid for Kalidou Koulibaly. This is despite United’s interest in signing Raphael Varane as the club looks to bolster the backline. A £25million bid was sent to Napoli via Koulibaly’s agent Fali Ramadani.
Manchester United have dived headfirst into the transfer market. Deals for Tom Heaton and Jadon Sancho are done. However, that does not mean United are done bringing in players. The club are pushing ahead bullishly for Real Madrid star Raphael Varane.
However, it would seem that the Real Madrid star is not the only central defender on United’s radar. United are also trying to get Kalidou Koulibaly and rather seriously. They have seemingly sent a £25million offer for him. Napoli have received the offer through Fali Ramadani, the agent of Koulibaly.
The 30-year-old Senegalese star was once one of the best defenders in the world. However, recent seasons have seen him fall off that radar a bit. Koulibaly is said to be unhappy at the Serie A club and has wanted to leave for a while now. Napoli could also sanction a sale given the financial impact of Covid.

The feasibility of a deal for Koulibaly looks rather difficult, especially if Varane arrives. United could be served better if they focus those funds on other positions of need such as the midfield. Quite how serious United are about this deal for Koulibaly will need to be kept an eye on.
