Manchester United could use Diogo Dalot to land Raphael Varane on the cheap
According to transfer news from the Express, Manchester United could use Diogo Dalot to reduce the asking price for Raphael Varane. United are yet to agree on a transfer fee for the Frenchman with Real Madrid. However, they could capitalise on the Spanish giants’ interest in Dalot to get a reduced price.
Real are in a bit of a spot, with Varane in the last year of his current deal. They will have to sell him this summer or lose him for free in the next. United are hoping to take advantage of the same and sign the player who has been on their radar for a while. (h/t Express)

Carlo Ancelotti has followed the player since his time as manager at Everton. Now, he wants the full-back at Real Madrid. Offering Dalot in exchange could help United Varane at a cheaper price. The 22-year-old Portuguese full-back spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at AC Milan, playing a part in their qualification for the UEFA Champions League. Dalot’s impressive form led to a call-up to the Portugal side for the Euros where he featured twice.

Dalot may be a talented player but there’s not a lot of possibilities for him to oust Aaron Wan-Bissaka from the right-back spot. Using him to reduce the transfer fee for Varane works well for United. They get a top player at a lower price and also get to offload Dalot easily.
