Manchester United and Real Madrid hours away from agreement over Raphael Varane
According to transfer news from Express, Manchester United and Real Madrid are only hours away from an agreement for Raphael Varane. The player is keen on leaving but wants to do it in a pleasant way, without causing any problems.
United’s interest in the Real Madrid defender goes way back to 2011 when Sir Alex was in charge. Varane was then at Lens and was touted to move to a bigger club. Nonetheless, United missed out on his signing and he has gone on to represent Real Madrid for a decade.
Ten years down the line United have been handed the opportunity to sign Varane again but this time there is more optimism. He is in the last year of his deal at Real and a sale could be on the cards. This is despite the club already losing Sergio Ramos to PSG.
It has come to light that Varane has informed Real Madrid of his intentions to leave. Now, another development has taken place as claimed by the reliable RMadridistaReal. (h/t Express)
“It is a matter of hours before United and Madrid reach an agreement for the transfer of Varane. The Frenchman is leaving, but he wants to do it in a pleasant way and very grateful to the club and Real Madrid.”

While that is all very optimistic to hear, these sorts of deals take some time to happen. However, given how long United have been after Varane, it does seem that an agreement should be on the horizon rather soon. At this point, it only looks like a question of when and not if.
