Manchester United blow as Juventus and PSG in talks over Cristiano Ronaldo

According to transfer news from Express, Manchester United have received a blow in their pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo. Juventus and PSG are in talks over a swap deal that would see Ronaldo and Mauro Icardi switch clubs.

The Juventus superstar is one of the best players in the history of the game. Defying his age, the 36-year-old Ronaldo continues to impress. He scored 29 goals in 33 Serie A appearances for Juventus in an underwhelming season.

With Juve looking close to missing out on the Champions League, speculation over Ronaldo’s future was out in the open. After all, his current deal is scheduled to end next season and there have been no talks over a potential extension. It was here that a potential return to Manchester United was mooted.

However, it seems United are set to face disappointment in their hunt for their former star. PSG and Juve have entered the talks over a potential swap deal. It would see Ronaldo take on a new challenge at the French capital, whereas Mauro Icardi would return to the Serie A.

It’s not entirely a bad thing that United would miss out on Ronaldo. He may still be banging goals like a striker in his prime. But the fact is that he is 36 and close to the final years of his career. United are building a young squad aided by some experienced heads and it would be a huge gamble to put Ronaldo in that picture.
