Transfer News: Manchester United could be forced to sell Donny van de Beek
According to transfer news from Express, there is a 50-50 chance of Manchester United selling Donny van de Beek. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claimed that there is a chance that the Dutchman could stay back. However, United will cash in on him if a suitable offer comes along.
The 24-year-old was United’s marquee signing last summer and arrived at Old Trafford after a successful spell at Ajax Amsterdam. He got off to an excellent start by scoring on his debut against Crystal Palace but has struggled since.
Van de Beek was often seen warming the benches in most games and only in a handful of games was he given game time. Overall, he made 36 appearances all season, of which 21 came off the bench (h/t Transfermarkt). That has seen speculation over his future arise in recent weeks.
Van de Beek’s future is up in the air
That is due to the arrival of Jadon Sancho. There is the belief that his game time could be further reduced. However, Romano gave a clearer view of the situation.
“Van De Beek has always been so professional at Manchester United. He’s always been focused on the team. He’s a fantastic guy and Manchester United love him. It’s a 50/50 situation. He has the chance to leave if an important bid comes in but he also has the chance to stay at Manchester United.”

The Dutchman arrived at Old Trafford as one of the rising young players in Eredivisie. Van de Beek has his best years ahead of him and to let him leave after just one season would be a mistake. However, keeping him on the benches is also not a viable option.
