Club News: Manchester United announce friendly against Preston North End
According to news from the club’s official site, Manchester United have announced an additional friendly against Preston North End. The game will be played at Preston’s home ground in Deepdale on the 29th of July, 14:00 BST.
With the last season now officially over after the Euros and Copa America, Manchester United have started work on the preparations for next season. After a mixed season last time around, United are not mulling over that anymore. Pre-season fixtures have been laid out and training has already started.
However, a lot of players who were on international duty are yet to return. That means Solskjaer will only have a handful of first-team stars to call upon in the initial games. United have planned a proper pre-season this year after the restricted schedule last time. Four games were initially scheduled to be played between 18th July and 7th August.
United are to face Derby County (18th July), QPR (24th), Brentford (28th) and Everton (7th Aug). However, there will be an additional friendly against Preston North End on the 31st of this month. The pre-season should offer Solskjaer some time to figure out his side for the upcoming season. New tactics and formations are likely to be tested out in the warm-up games.

While it would have been good to have the full squad and new signings to work with during the pre-season, Solskjaer will have to work with what he has available. Fringe players and academy stars will be hoping to impress the gaffer and push their argument for a spot in the side next season.
