Transfer News: Manchester United show interest in Antoine Griezmann
According to transfer news from Express, Manchester United have shown interest in signing Antoine Griezmann. The 30-year-old French striker could be on his way out of Barcelona this summer as the club try and reduce their wage bill. United along with Chelsea are said to be keeping tabs on him.
A top-class forward, Griezmann was among the best in the business during his time at Atletico Madrid. He was an industrious presence in Diego Simeone’s hard-working side who could score as well as create goals in equal measure.
However, an expensive move to Barcelona in 2019 has not gone as he would have liked. He has failed to replicate the form he showed prior to his move and has been more of a peripheral figure at the club. Now with Barcelona looking to trim their wage bill, Griezmann’s name has landed on the chopping block.
Manchester United along with Chelsea have now taken an interest in the striker who scored 20 goals last season. However, Griezmann is keen on a return to Atletico but Barcelona are not prepared to allow that. The Catalans have also rejected a swap deal that could have seen Saul Niguez arrive.

This is perhaps a deal that Manchester United need not be looking at right now. The club have enough players to play in the striker role and adding another name would be a misuse of funds. United would do well to pass up on this interest of theirs and focus on some defensive signings.
