Manchester United youngster Charlie Veevers signs with Swansea City

Manchester United Academy star Charlie Veevers has announced on his Instagram page that he has signed with Championship side Swansea City.

The youngster had been with the Red Devils for 10 years and spent last season in the club’s Under 16 setup. United have a number of top players coming through the ranks, especially in the midfield.

Veevers, a central midfielder is undoubtedly talented. But the presence of more illustrious names in the Under 18 and Under 23 setups could prove to be a huge barrier to him progressing through the ranks. He would have a better chance of doing so at a lower league club and he appears to have come to just the conclusion.

Some players from the Under-16 side were promoted to play matches for the Under-18s last season. This included the likes of Kobbie Mainoo, Louis Jackson, James Nolan, Jack Kingdon, Max Oyedele, James Nolan, and Daniel Gore.

Veevers was however not among them and is understood to have been released and allowed to pursue his career elsewhere. Swansea pounced quickly and have not got their man.

While he may not have made it at United, there is no reason to suggest that he won’t have better luck elsewhere. Perhaps with the pressure of playing for the Red Devils off his shoulder, he could thrive at the Liberty Stadium. We wish him nothing but the best and hopes he goes on to become a professional footballer.
