Manchester United will need to fork out at least £86million to land Kingsley Coman
According to Sky Sports Germany (h/t The Express), Manchester United will have to pay through their nose to land Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman this summer.
The French international is one of the Bavarian giants’ best players and is on his day a game-changer. He played a key role in Bayern’s treble in 2019/20, scoring the winner in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.
The 25-year-old is unhappy at the German side and feels he is not being paid enough that reflects his performances. He is keen to earn a payday similar to that of teammate Leroy Sane, who joined the club from Manchester City last summer. He was also miffed by Bayern’s decision to hand the No 10 shirt to Leroy Sane at the start of last season.
Coman’s situation at the Allianz Arena has caught the attention of both Liverpool and United. Bayern has now slapped a price tag of at least £86million on the player in a bid to ward off interested parties.
As things stand, neither United nor Liverpool looks ready to meet the German giants’ demand. Doing so would make him United’s second most expensive signing ever and beat Liverpool’s record fee paid for Virgil van Dijk.
With a deal for Jadon Sancho in its final stages, it is difficult to see United also make a move for Coman. The Frenchman is undoubtedly talented but we are better off waiting for him to run down his deal than make a move now.
Bayern are keen on striking a deal with regards to a new contract. However, both parties are still some way off an agreement. According to Goal (h/t The Daily Mail), new manager Julian Nagelsmann views Coman as a key part of his Bayern side and it remains to be seen if this will work in the player’s favour.

Coman’s contract at Bayern runs until 2022, meaning the Germans hold the aces in negotiations this summer. United are better off getting the deal for Sancho over the line, while playing the long game on Coman.
