Manchester City to battle Manchester United for Leicester City star Caglar Soyuncu
According to Posta (h/t Turkish Football), Manchester City are set to challenge Manchester United for the signing of Leicester City star Caglar Soyuncu.
The 25-year-old is one of the best young defenders in the game and is steadily cementing himself as one of the best in his position in the Premier League. Having joined the club in 2018, he has stepped in well since Harry Maguire’s departure and has developed into a dependable player.
City now join the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid in the race to land the player. The Foxes are demanding €60m for` the player and could be open to business should a bid meet that.
Any move for Soyuncu will however not be easy. Leicester are difficult to negotiate with and usually dig in their heels regarding their top players. United will be familiar with it after being forced to pay a world-record fee to land Maguire in 2019.
While it may not quite be the same amount for Soyuncu, it is difficult to see the Foxes lower their stand. It is no secret that United need a defender and it remains to be seen who we will go for.
Soyuncu still has another two years remaining on his Leicester and has adapted to Premier League football and has settled well into life in England. His desire to stay in England could tip the scales in City’s favour.
A pacy player, Soyuncu will add much-needed speed to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s rearguard. His physicality is also an added bonus and will serve us well against the more robust opponents. Soyuncu and Harry Maguire played together three times for Leicester. Whether they will get a chance to reignite their partnership remains to be seen.
