Manchester United fans react as Luke Shaw silences Jose Mourinho with stellar England outing against Germany
There is no love lost between Manchester United star Luke Shaw and former manager Jose Mourinho. The latter never loses an opportunity to take the former down a notch and has at times displayed an unhealthy obsession of sorts.
The English international was polite yet firm as he spoke up against Mourinho during his pre-match presser against Germany. He followed that up with a performance on the pitch that the Portuguese tactician just cannot ignore.
Shaw played a major role in both of England’s goals. In a game that often lacked imagination, the left-back made all the difference in the world. The performance serves as a vindication for a player who has of late resurrected what was once a very promising career.
It is difficult to see Mourinho eat the humble pie and back down. But then Shaw has already given his response to the tactician on and off the field. He has left the past behind him and is now forging a better future.
It is perhaps apt that Moutinho, yesterday’s man, is stuck in the past while Shaw is heading towards the future. We take a look at how fans reacted to the performance on Twitter.
