Brighton and Rangers keeping tabs on Manchester United starlet James Garner
According to Stretty News (h/t Sports Mole), Manchester United youngster James Garner is a man in demand. The 20-year-old, an academy graduate could be set for another loan spell away from Old Trafford this summer.
Nicknamed the ‘next Michael Carrick’, the 20-year-old came through the ranks at Old Trafford, before going on to make his first-team debut. He has so far made seven appearances for the senior side.
With first-team opportunities hard to come by, United decided to loan out Garner to Championship side Watford last summer. However, he failed to play regularly at Vicarage Road and was recalled in January. The 20-year-old was then loaned out to another Championship side, Nottingham Forest. With four goals in 20 games.
He could now be set for a third loan spell away from Old Trafford. While a move abroad has been mooted, interest from home remains strong. Scottish Premier League champions Rangers and Premier League side Brighton are among the teams keen on the midfielder.
“I know Brighton like him, I know Norwich like him. I know Rangers are really keen on him as well.”
Garner’s agent Steven Beck is relaxed regarding his client’s future. He has not dismissed the chances of Garner going out on loan and admits that it will come as a surprise if top flight teams do not make a move.
“James has put himself in a great position where he’s probably going to have, if he does go out on loan again, the majority of the Championship and I would be amazed if one or two Premier League clubs don’t try and do something.”
According to the Daily Star, Garner has a good chance of being included in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pre-season squad. Whether he will make use of the opportunity to stake a claim to stay on at Old Trafford remains to be seen.
It is clear that Solskjaer rates the youngster highly. After all, it was he who gave Garner his nickname. But whether he can get regular playtime at Old Trafford next season is debatable. A spell out on loan, preferably at a top-flight side could do Garner’s development wonders.

While Garner still has a long way to go before he can fill Carrick’s boots, he is certainly on the right track. Perhaps moving to Rangers under English legend Steven Gerrard could aid in his development further. After all, the Liverpool man is one of the finest midfielders to grace the Premier League.
