Manchester United could prevent Chelsea from landing Erling Haaland this summer
According to The Express, Manchester United could play spoilsport in Chelsea’s pursuit of Norwegian wonderkid Erling Haaland.
The Blues are serious in landing the player and are willing to cough up serious money to land him. Smarting off their UEFA Champions League triumph, the Londoners are approaching the transfer window from a position of strength.
While United are also interested in Haaland, they have instead focused their attentions on landing his Borussia Dortmund teammate Jadon Sancho this summer. With a deal for the Englishman nearing closure, United could be about to hit two birds with one stone.
According to the report, Dortmund are unwilling to lose both Sancho and Haaland in the same window. With a deal for the former almost done, the latter could stay on at the Westfalenstadion for another season.
That could also aid us in our pursuit of the Norwegian. According to The Express, United have put off their move for Haaland for next year. That will only be possible if he is still on the market in a year’s time.
Moreover, Haaland’s £64million release clause will kick into effect next summer. The price is a snip for a player of his ability and will surely attract a lot more suitors than he is doing so today. With revenue streams including matchday income potentially improving, more teams could also be able to afford the Norwegian.
It does not appear to be a good couple of days for Chelsea who also looks set to miss out on Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain.

United have been long-term admirers of the 20-year-old, coming close to landing him on a few occasions before. The links have however gone cold of late and it would appear we unlikely to make a move for him this summer.
However, neither Manchester City nor Chelsea appears to have the initiative. The latter has already made their move for Harry Kane and Jack Grealish. It would take a monumental financial effort for them to also land Haaland this summer.
