Patrick Berger: Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund €5m in their negotiations for Jadon Sancho

Speaking on the Stretford Paddock Youtube Channel, Patrick Berger, Chief Reporter at SPORT1 has revealed just how close Manchester United are to landing Jadon Sancho this summer.

United’s pursuit of the English international is not just an open secret but also one of the enduring sagas of our times. It is a move that has its origins last summer and continues to experience its twists and turns this time as well.

As things stand, United are offering €85m including add-ons for the player. Dortmund, on the other hand, are demanding €90m, but also with the guarantee that they will get every cent of that fee.

It would appear that all that stands in our way is €5m in the transfer fee. United have so far been unwilling to meet it.

Berger also went on to add that the player has already come to an agreement with United. He looks set to earn £12.8m-a-year at Old Trafford, which works out at roughly £250k-per-week. This will make him one of the club’s top earners.

Negotiations between United and Dortmund are ongoing and as far as it looks, the transfer fee remains the only bone of contention. The Germans for their part have made their stand clear and the onus is now on United to meet it.

United will need to fork out the money to land Sancho

The Germans appear to be ready to sell the English ace and United are aware of what it will take to land him. The fact that they are willing to hold out for a relatively small amount is worrying. Hopefully, it does not come back to bite us in the future.

The Red Devils have been long-term admirers of the English international. Having missed out on securing him twice in the past, they remain hopeful that a third attempt will prove lucky. If not, they have only themselves to blame.
