Manchester United suffer a massive blow in their pursuit of Erling Haaland
According to Italian journalist Alredo Pedulla of SportItalia (h/t Daily Star), Manchester United have been knocked back in their efforts to land prolific Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian wonderkid is despite his age one of the finest frontmen in Europe. In fact, only Robert Lewandowski and Andre Silva outscored him in the German top-flight last season. (h/t BBC)
United have been long-term admirers of the 20-year-old, coming close to landing him on a few occasions before. The links have however gone cold of late and it would appear we unlikely to make a move for him this summer.
Not that it would have done us much good if the latest report is to be believed. It goes on to add that Real Madrid have already secured the player. Whether it means he will make a move to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer or the next remains unclear.
It will come as a blow to United who now looks set to miss out on one of the generation’s brightest talents. While the likes of Mason Greenwood, Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford can play up front, in Haaland they could have landed a true gamechanger.

While we may have enough resources to cope for the upcoming campaign, United could very well come out of the summer having missed out on the two biggest strikers available in the market.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had earlier admitted that United could still bring in a striker despite Cavani’s contract extension. As things stand, that man is now unlikely to be Haaland.
