Manchester United could offer Paul Pogba in exchange for Real Madrid star Raphael Varane
According to Spanish publication AS (h/t The Express), Manchester United could make use of Paul Pogba in their efforts to land Real Madrid star Raphael Varane this summer.
The Los Blancos defender is in the final year of his contract and is free to leave for nothing next year. The Red Devils are keen to bring in a new defender to partner Harry Maguire in defence and have earmarked Varane as a major option.
United have been long-term admirers of the 28-year-old and have kept tabs on him since his time at Lens. They believe there is a real shot at landing him this summer and are keen to see it through.
According to the report, United are keen to address two concerns with one move. Midfielder Paul Pogba is also in a similar situation as Varane, and is set to enter the final year of his contract.
With negotiations going nowhere, United are worried that the player could walk out for free next year. According to the Mirror, the Red Devils are not keen for that to happen and are ready to cash in on him this summer.

Pogba was linked with a move to Real Madrid in the past and United could now offer him in exchange for landing Varane. It would effectively see them land two birds with one stone.
However, it is doubtful if Real will take Pogba in exchange, especially so given that Zinedine Zidane is no more in charge of the club.
