Transfer News: Juventus seeking to trump Manchester United to Nikola Milenkovic
According to CalcioMercato (h/t Teamtalk), Juventus are working on a plan to beat Manchester United to Fiorentina star Nikola Milenkovic.
United are in the market for a central defender and have earmarked Milenkovic as one of the options on their radar. The 23-year-old is about to enter the final year of his contract and he has already informed La Viola that he wants to move on.
This could weaken Fiorentina’s hand when it comes to negotiations. The Italians are keen to provoke a bidding war but will accept between £13m to £15m for the player.
According to the report, Juventus plan to further reduce Fiorentina’s asking price by adding a player to their offer. While it is not clear who will be offered, there is a chance that promising defender Radu Dragusin could be the one to make way.
If the price mentioned is true, United could be landing themselves a promising defender for a bargain price. However, it remains to be seen if the Red Devils will make a move. After all news of our interest in Milenkovic has gone cold in recent weeks.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, however, are making better progress on other fronts. United have already bid for Raphael Varane and appear to be making progress in securing Pau Torres. (h/t Manchester Evening News)
Whether this means we have foregone Milenkovic to focus our attentions elsewhere remains to be seen. After all both Varane and Torres are, at this point in time, better talents in comparison to the Serbian.

The Serbian ace is amongst the few bright spots in what was a disappointing season for Fiorentina. Milenkovic looks up to Nemanja Vidic and has admitted that he tries to model his game on the United great. Unless something is done soon, he could be plying his trade elsewhere in the coming season.
