Manchester United target Fatawu Issahaku all set to join Liverpool
According to Anfield Central, Manchester United appear to have fallen short in their efforts to land talented young Ghanian Fatawu Issahaku.
The 17-year-old came through the ranks at local club Steadfast FC in the Ghjanian second tier. He quickly made an impact, scoring eight goals and five assists in 13 games before the season was suspended due to COVID-19.
The youngster now looks set to join Liverpool this summer. An earlier report by the same outlet revealed that United were putting together a better lucrative offer. They were willing to pay him a higher monthly salary as well as cover all his living expenses.
So keen were United to land their man that they had given the player the same ultimatum that Liverpool issued the Ghanain regarding his agents. The Red Devils even offered to help him find an agency that already works closely with the club.
All the effort appears to been to no avail with the Merseysiders now haning landed their man. Curiously enough Liverpool did not raise their original offer, landing Issahaku for a price lower than what we were ready to offer.
The player for his part chose Anfield over Old Trafford as he felt it was better for his career. It would appear he was not keen to make a decision influenced by money.
Issahaku will however not spend the upcoming season on Merseyside. He will be loaned out to Sporting Lisbon where he will remain on loan until he can obtain a work permit. It will be interesting to see how the youngster corps with life in Europe.
