Transfer News: Manchester United face Chelsea competition for Raphael Varane
According to transfer news from Daily Star, Manchester United will face competition from Chelsea for the signing of Raphael Varane. The Blues have entered the race for the Frenchman and see him as a priority signing.
The Red Devils have been following the French international since his time at Lens. Having won everything at the Bernabeu, the 28-year-old appears ready to pursue a new challenge. Varane has around a year left on his current deal and will be a free agent next year.
The Red Devils are in need of a new defender and have identified the French international as a target. Harry Maguire has been a success at United but lacks an adequate partner to shore up the defence. Lindelof and Bailly have been mediocre at best.
However, Manchester United are not the only side that are after the World Cup winner. Chelsea have entered the race to sign him. Thomas Tuchel’s side view him as a priority signing too. PSG are also said to be after Varane.

It seems as if the signing of Varane just got a bit more difficult for United. Chelsea are likely to go all out after him given they have prioritized his signing. United would be wise to take steps in this scenario. Losing Varane to one of our rivals would be a huge blow.
