Joel Glazer promises to back Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the transfer market

According to Manchester Evening News, Joel Glazer has promised to back Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the transfer market.

The United co-owner took part in the fans forum earlier today, a historic first in his 16-year-old association with the club. He reiterated the club’s vision to win trophies and is keen to invest in order to do so.

He went on to add that measures had been taken in the past few years to improve aspects such as scouting. It is all part of the larger plan to ensure long term success at Old Trafford.

“Our goal is to win every competition we compete in, and we will continue to invest in our academy and in the transfer market to support the manager in an effort to meet the club’s goals.”

The United squad has shown much promise but have failed to bring home any silverware in the past four years. Under Solskjaer, we are still very much a work in progress and need further reinforcements.

Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea will all pose their own threats next season. Moreover, Tottenham too could take a step in the right direction if they manage to hire a good manager.

Matters will not be easy for Solskjaer, who will have to find a way to ensure our progress this season does not go to waste. Hopefully, the Glazers will walk the talk and ensure the Norwegian is given the resources to fulfil his vision.

The best infrastructure!

Joel also went on to add that the infrastructure of the club will also be improved in the coming future. Old Trafford has been suffering from a lack of maintenance and hopefully, steps will now be taken to improve it.

“Old Trafford is at the heart of Manchester United and while we have spent over £100m over the last 10 years on infrastructure projects, we will now accelerate the process of planning much more significant investment and upgrades to the stadium.”

The same goes for the training ground that will also see changes in the immediate future. Joel admitted that planning is already underway and finances have been made available to enhance the training facilities

“Preliminary planning work is already underway and there will be significant funding available to further enhance our facilities and ensure they remain world-class.”

Joel certainly talks an interesting game. However, we will be the judges of whether he walks the talk or not. Until the words are reflected in their actions, they remain hollow promises at best.

Given the Glazers’ track record at Old Trafford, it wouldn’t be a surprise if this is just another arrow in their quiver of lies.
