West Ham fear Manchester United will deny them the chance to sign Jesse Lingard
According to The Sun, West Ham United expect Manchester United to throw a spanner into the works regarding their interest to sign Jesse Lingard in the summer.
The 28-year-old joined the Hammers on loan in January and has since seen his stock rise. He emerged as a key player for the London side and played a big role in their bid to qualify for Europe.
With their season now over, Lingard is set to return to Old Trafford. With his contract at Old Trafford set to expire next summer, United have a decision to make in the off-season.
David Moyes is sold on the player and is keen to sign him permanently in the summer. He has since admitted that he is unsure if a deal can be agreed on for the English international.
According to the report, West Ham believe United have no interest in letting the England international leave Old Trafford given the impact he has made while on loan.
To add credence to the point, there have been no negotiations between United and West Ham.
The options on the table
The Red Devils believe Lingard’s spell with West Ham has once again brought his abilities to the fore. His stock has never been higher and they believe he could fetch them around £15million in transfer fee.
There always is the chance that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could reintegrate the player into his first team. However, he has so far been unable to get the best out of Lingard and it would be the best way forward if he was allowed to move on.

Lingard could very well be on the plane for England’s European Championship campaign this summer, a thought that was unfathomable just a few months ago.
It is pretty clear that a successful competition will only raise the player’s valuation further. Whether United will wait until then to make a decision remains to be seen.
