Romelu Lukaku makes a fresh dig at Manchester United following Scudetto glory with Inter Milan
According to RTBP News via CalcioMercato (h/t Manchester Evening News), Inter Milan ace Romelu Lukaku has taken a fresh dig at Manchester United following his Serie A win with the Nerazzuri.
The Belgian international played a key role in Inter’s first Scudetto win since 2010. With 28 goals and 11 assists in 44 games, Lukaku leads Inter in both categories this season. (h/t BBC)
It represents a change in fortunes for the Belgian, who struggled during his time at United. Lukaku spent just two years at United, scoring 42 goals and assisting 13 in just 96 games for the Red Devils. He eventually joined United in July 2017.
Lukaku’s success with Inter has seen him linked with a return to the Premier League. He has now revealed that he left Old Trafford thanks to a better offer he received from the Italian giants.
“Things didn’t work anymore. Things have to be said as they are: if a better offer comes from somewhere else or you can try something different, why not try it? I did it and I saw that works.”
Working under Conte appears to appeal to Lukaku. He admits that the Italian tactician has a soft spot for him thanks to his willingness to do what is needed of him.
“He [Conte] loves me because I know how to do everything he asks me to do on the pitch.”
The second salvo
This is not the first time that Lukaku has aimed a dig at United. He recently posted a picture of him celebrating Inter’s success with the other ex-United stars on the Nerazzuri’s radar.
This includes the likes of Ashley Young, Matteo Darmian and Alexis Sanchez. Of the players involved, only Young has won a Premier League title with United. The Englishman also went on to captain the Red Devils during his time at Old Trafford.

Lukaku, to his credit, was a decent player for United. While he may not have been the goalscoring machine we sought, his contributions do appear to go under the radar.
Given the criticism he received at United, has not missed the opportunity to send a message to his former employers.
