Manchester United keen on bringing in Kieran Trippier or Max Aarons to compete with Aaron Wan-Bissaka
According to Sky News (h/t The Express), Manchester United are eyeing Kieran Trippier and Max Aarons in order to provide competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The English right-back is the club’s automatic first choice in the position. Although Brandon Williams and Axel Tuanzebe are options, neither of them are as dependable as Wan-Bissaka.
It can be argued that United are over-reliant on the 23-year-old and could do with other options moving forward.
While Wan-Bissaka is defensively as solid as they come, he leaves much to be desired when it comes to his attacking prowess. The same cannot be said of either Trippier or Aarons, who are more rounded defenders.
Ready to go
Having played at the top level with Tottenham Hotspur and now Atletico Madrid, Trippier can be considered as a player who can produce instant results.
Moreover, his expertise at set-pieces will add yet another weapon to the United arsenal. The 30-year-old is also familiar with Manchester having come through the City Academy early on in his career.
The player for his part is keen to return to England. However, he has stated that he can only see himself do that at Burnley. Whether United can tempt him into changing his mind remains to be seen.
A long-term prospect!
In contrast, Aarons only has had a single season of top-flight experience. He remains a regular for Norwich City and played a key role in their promotion to the top-flight this season.
Unlike Trippier, he is more of a long-term prospect and alongside Wan-Bissaka can lock up the position for years to come. Whether United are looking for a quick fix or a long-term solution remains to be seen.

While Trippier is a veteran, Aarons is more of an upcoming talent ready to take the next step in his career. Both players have much to offer and could prove to be valuable additions to our side.
The addition of Alex Telles last summer saw Luke Shaw add an extra element to his game this season. Hopefully, we can expect a similar development on the other flank this time around.
