Transfer News: Manchester United target Jadon Sancho pushing for a summer exit
According to Manchester Evening News, Jadon Sancho is keen to leave Borussia Dortmund amidst interest from Manchester United.
The English international has urged his agent to push for a move this summer in what will be welcome news at Old Trafford. The Red Devils failed to land him last summer after a protracted saga that lasted the majority of the summer.
The player for his part was left disappointed after the deal to United failed to materialize. United for their part have not dismissed the possibility of returning for him this summer.
Dortmund refused to sell Sancho after United failed to agree on a compromise with Emeka Obasi, the players’ agent. The matter of a transfer fee was never broached, thanks to the time taken to negotiate personal terms.
United’s opening salary offer was lower than the reputed £190,000-a-week he currently earns at Dortmund. The report goes on to add that United were stunned at Sancho’s salary demands and the intermediary fee demanded by Marco Lichtsteiner, the Dortmund intermediary.
With Edinson Cavani now set to stay, United appear to be ready to shift their focus away from Erling Haaland. This could very well pave the way for them to move for Sancho.
A key addition
The 21-year-old is one of Europe’s best talents and has been one of the key players for Borussia Dortmund in recent seasons. With 32 goal contributions in 35 games this season, he has repaid the German side’s faith in him.
Dortmund have already confirmed that interested teams can sign Sancho for the right offer. They are however unlikely to get anywhere close to the £108million they wanted last summer.
With his contract running until 2023, Dortmund do have some leeway in negotiations. Whether we will have better luck than last time remains to be seen.
