Manchester United fans react as Liverpool clash gets postponed
Manchester United vs Liverpool is the biggest game in English football and one of the biggest rivalries in the sport.
The very fact that a game of such magnitude could be put off showcases the strength the supporters have if they decide to take matters into their own hands.
United fans gathered in thousands ahead of kick-off in protest against the Glazers’ ownership of the club. Things spilled over when around 200 fans made their way onto the Old Trafford Turf. These fans scampered away with balls, corner flags and camera equipment forcing the game to be delayed.
It was later confirmed in a club statement that the game has been postponed due to safety and security considerations. Discussions will now take place with the Premier League on a revised date for the fixture.
The club has admitted that they respect fans’ right to peaceful assembly and protest. However, they have been forced to make the decision taking into account the safety of other fans, players and the staff at the venue.
United have also promised to help the police in any investigation that may arise out of it. While one may argue the pros and cos of the incident, there is no argument that the action today will not have gone unntoiced.
We take a look at how fans reacted to the club’s statement on Twitter.

This protest was known about days ago. Where was the stadium security that allowed fans? into the stadium, fire bottles/ flares at the pundits and get into the dressing rooms and break the COVID-19 protocols. Shambles!
