Jan Oblak opens up on Premier League move amidst Manchester United interest
Speaking to BBC Radio Five (h/t The Mirror), Manchester United target Jan Oblak has opened up regarding a potential switch to the Premier League.
The Slovenian ace is one of the best goalkeepers in the sport and has for years held the fort at Atletico Madrid. He is now ready for a change and is not averse to moving to the English top flight. Oblak however has stressed that it will need to be under that right manager.
The 28-year-old is in the prime of his career and has two years left on his current deal. He also has a mammoth £102million release clause and will not come cheap.
“Let’s see what the future will bring.”
United have been tracking Oblak for a long time now in spite of having both David de Gea and Dean Henderson in their ranks. The former faces an uncertain future while the latter is certainly talented.
Henderson appears to have established himself at least for the time being as the United No.1. However, bringing in Oblak would be a massive upgrade.
The Slovenian, for his part, is unsure of what the future will bring. He has no doubt that he can perform in any league and is open to developments.
“I don’t know. I don’t know what the future will bring, but I am sure that in any league I would play I could play well. You never know what will happen in the future.”
An excellent shot-stopper, Oblak has conceded just 209 goals in 298 appearances. This includes an impressive 157 clean sheets. He has also been named La Liga’s best goalkeeper four times. (h/t The Mirror)

Reserve keepers Sergio Romero, Joel Pereira, Paul Woolston and veteran Lee Grant are also set to leave in a massive cull of the shot-stopping department.
Whether this means we will retain faith in Henderson or bring in someone big like Oblak remains to be seen.
