Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to do what it takes to keep Edinson Cavani at Manchester United
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could only look on in wonder as as Edinson Cavani led Manchester United turned up the syle against AS Roma in the Europa League.
The Uruguayan veteran rolled back the years as he put in a fine performance to lead United to a 6-2 hammering of a hapless Roma side.
The four-goal lead gives the Red Devils a massive advantage ahead of the second leg of the Europa League semifinals against the Italians. It would appear that Solskjaer and his men have finally put their semifinal voodoo to rest.
Cavani’s brace appears to have helped Solskjaer make up his mind. According to Sky Sports, the Norweigan is now desperate to ensure that the veteran extends his stay at the club.
“I would love to have him for another year, we have spoken about it.”
Having joined United during the pandemic, Cavani is yet to feel the love of the fans at Old Trafford. Solskjaer has promised him that staying put will see him experience something truly special.
“He has to feel what it’s like to score those goals at the Stretford End with fans, it’s a different feeling.”
“I promised him that Old Trafford and Manchester is a different place with fans in the stadium.”
The ball is in Cavani’s court
With Marcus Rashford yet to return to full fitness and Anthony Martial out for the season, the onus has been on Cavani to step up. The Uruguayan has repaid the faith and then some.
Fabrizio Romano too gave his two cents on the matter. The reliable journalist believes that Cavani will now make a decision on his future after consulting his family.

With 12 goals in 33 games, Cavani is the club’s third-highest scorer this season. It is fair to say that he has proven himself to be a shrewd acquisition.
Despite his age, he still has at least another year at the top left in him. Keeping him on would be a massive boost for us going into the next season.
