Paul Pogba willing to sign new Manchester United contract
According to The Athletic (Subscription Required), Manchester United star Paul Pogba has made a dramatic U-turn regarding his future at the club.
The 28-year-old was one of our key performers as United swept aside AS Roma 6-2 to take a healthy lead in the first leg of the Europa League semifinals.
Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola created a storm last December when he claimed that the player is looking for a way out of the club. With his contract set to expire in 2022, the Red Devils were put in an uncomfortable position regarding their record signing.
The Frenchman is now ready to commit his future to Old Trafford. Given his recent upsurge in form and consistency, the decision will be well met by fans.
The player’s camp was surprised that he did not receive an offer from other clubs last summer. Pogba stayed put after United activated a clause to extend his deal until 2022.
A player once disillusioned with the direction United were taking, Pogba appears to have renewed faith in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s leadership. The Red Devils are second in the Premier League and could go all the way in this season’s Europa League.
A key player!
Speaking after yesterday’s win over Roma, Solskjaer revealed exactly what he thought of Pogba. He considers the Frenchman a key player and Pogba himself is aware of it.
Pogba’s importance was noticeable when the player suffered an injury in February. United faltered in his absence and lost ground in the title race.
