Transfer News: Manchester United to make £43m offer for Ousmane Dembele

According to news from Spanish publication Fichajes (h/t The Faithful MUFC), Manchester United are ready to make a transfer offer worth £43m for Barcelona superstar Ousmane Dembele.

The 23-year-old Dembele joined Barcelona in the summer of 2017 from Borussia Dortmund. However, in his four years in Catalonia, he has largely been an unreliable figure due to a myriad of injury issues, which has seen him spend more time out on the sidelines than on the pitch.

Things have improved for Dembele in the ongoing season though, as he has become an integral member of the team under Ronald Koeman. However, his contract with Barcelona runs out in a year, leading to speculations over his future.

A deal has not been agreed upon yet with the Catalan giants, who have now slapped a valuation of £43m on the 23-year-old. And, as per the report, Manchester United are willing to pay the said transfer fees in the summer to sign Dembele.

It is no secret that Manchester United were linked with a move for the 2018 World Cup winner last summer. A transfer, however, did not see the light of the day. Given the long-standing problems on the right flank, someone like Dembele can prove to be a fine addition at Old Trafford.

Despite his injury problems in the past, Dembele has shown this term that he can be a trustworthy and reliable player when fit, scoring 10 goals and setting up four more in all competitions.

And, at 23, he has his best years well in front of him and would be a shrewd, long-term addition to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad ahead of the next season.

This would also enable the manager to use Mason Greenwood in a central role regularly too. It now remains to be seen if United make a move to sign Dembele or not.
