Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester United are physically and mentally ready for Leeds
According to the Irish Independent, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claims that Manchester United are physically and mentally ready for Leeds. The Red Devils will take on their arch-rivals on Sunday for their 33rd match of the Premier League season.
It has been a tumultuous week for the club with the whole European Super League saga. The club were among the 12 founding members of the ESL. After massive backlash, the English teams including United pulled out from the tournament.
That was not all as Executive Vice-Chairman Ed Woodward resigned from his post and Joel Glazer had to issue an open letter apologizing to the fans.
There were fan protests at United’s training ground with a group breaking in and barring the players from training. Solskjaer himself had to come out and talk to them before normal activities resumed.
However, United and Solskjaer cannot afford to lie back as they take on Leeds United after a deserved week off since the Burnley win.
The Red Devils were clear winners in the reverse fixture as they thumped Marcelo Bielsa’s side 6-2. As United gear up to take the field again after all the action away from the pitch, Solskjaer has said that the players are mentally and physically ready.
“You know, that game we started unbelievably well – we scored in our first two attacks – and it was never a 6-2 win. We’ve looked at it, we’ve analysed it ourselves, and I don’t expect the same scoreline because the difference between the teams was not four goals. We were clinical. We scored some fantastic goals.
We had some great saves by David (De Gea) at important times. Just before half-time, it could have easily been 4-2. Just after half-time they had chances there as well. We know we will be stretched physically and mentally in this game. It’s a completely unique game of the season.”

United have created some space for themselves in second place. However, the title looks pretty much lost as City will need just three more wins. Nonetheless, they will need to keep up their good form on the back of 5 league wins and a crucial semi-final in the Europa League coming up.
