Transfer News: Manchester United receive boost in their pursuit of Ousmane Dembele
According to transfer news from Metro, Manchester United have received a bit of a boost in their attempts to sign Ousmane Dembele. Barcelona have slashed their asking price to around €50m as his current deal continues to tumble.
The 23-year-old joined Barcelona in 2017 for big money but has not shown a consistent run of performances. Both injuries and inconsistency have seen him struggle to produce his best on a regular basis. With his contract expiring in 2022, Barcelona are running out of time to renew his deal.
Barcelona won the Copa Del Rey at the weekend and now have their sights set on the La Liga title. With just a year left on his current deal, Dembele’s future at the Nou Camp is far from certain.
The 23-year-old has played a key role in Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona side. He has so far made 38 appearances, scoring ten goals and assisting four more.
Manchester United have long held an interest in Dembele and that still seems to be there. Now as his contract winds down, Barcelona have no option but to cash in on him next season at a reduced price of €50m.

Possessing pace, skill and directness, Dembele will add a new dimension to the United frontline. Bringing him in would enhance an attack that has at times lacked inspiration. It still remains to be seen what Dembele does in the next few months and United should pounce if the situation remains the same.
