Sir Alex Ferguson unhappy with Manchester United over Solskjaer treatment amid ESL chaos
According to The Athletic, Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson was left with furious with the club’s treatment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer amidst the European Super League (ESL) drama.
Manchester United announced on Sunday night that they were part of the breakaway ESL along with 11 other so-called “Elite Clubs” of Europe, including five other teams from Premier League.
The announcement caused severe backlash from fans, pundits, ex-players, current players and managers alike. Having faced the fury of the fans, United along with the other clubs backtracked on their stance and withdrew from the renegade competition.
Manchester United great, Sir Alex Ferguson, had made his stance on the matter clear as soon as the murmurs of such a competition started to do the rounds.
Now, it is being claimed that the legendary Scotsman was left displeased how the club handled the entire matter, especially with regard to the treatment of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The announcement of the now-disbanded Super League came at a time when we were playing Burnley in a Premier League clash. And Solskjaer, who had to face the broadcasters and reporters after the game, had been left blindsided by those above them.
This is something that did not go down well with Sir Alex, who felt that the club hierarchy threw the Norwegian under the bus. Similar feelings were shared by club captain Harry Maguire, as well as the rest of the team, with the centre-back even confronting Ed Woodward.
