Bruno Fernandes opens up on his relationship with Manchester United target Raphinha
Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes and Leeds United ace Raphinha spent just one season together at Sporting Lisbon in 2018/19.
They formed an excellent understanding en route to racking up 39 goals and 23 assists combined. United are keen on Raphinha and the prospect of them replicating the same at Old Trafford is an enticing thought. (h/t The Sun)
Both players could however take the field against each other later this week. United take on Leeds in a crunch Premier League clash at Elland Road on Sunday.
Close friends off the field, Fernandes hopes Raphinha will recover from his injury in time to face off this Sunday. He revealed his hope in a Q&A with the club’s official website.
“About Raphinha, unluckily for Leeds, I think maybe he will still be injured at the time.”
There is no place for friends on the pitch and Fernandes believes Raphinha is aware of it. If the 24-year-old does take the field, the United ace is keen to shut him down and keep quiet a major threat from Leeds.
“I hope I can play against him but, if I have to put him down in the game, I will put him down!”
Friends off the field!
Fernandes’ comments reveal the competitive nature he brings to the game. A fierce player, he is always keen to do his best and make a difference for his team.
However, hostilities cease at full-time and he is fine to catch up with his close friend once the match is over.
“If there is time to see each other, we will see and we will talk but he knows, in the game, there are no friends at all.”
