Manchester United star Luke Shaw expresses his disapproval for the European Super League
Manchester United star Luke Shaw took to Twitter yesterday to express his disapproval of the proposed European Super League.
The left-back followed in the wake of both Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, both of who had made their feelings on the topic clear on social media.
Shaw urged the need to listen to fans and their sentiments before making such a monumental decision. Alongside fans, players are major stakeholders in any decision that impacts the club and not taking either of them into confidence was a major error.
“Fans and players should always have a voice and their opinion should always be counted.”
Shaw also opened up about his dreams as a young footballer growing up. The Premier League and the UEFA Champions League are amongst the most watched and recognizable brands in the sport today.
The very fact that the clubs were willing to undermine either competition in a money grab does not put them in good light.
Both Fernandes and Shaw met with Ed Woodward on Monday to relay what the players thought about the proposal. They informed the Untied honcho that the Super League project was considered unacceptable for all players, as well as fans. (h/t CBS Sports)

Perhaps grudgingly United eventually gave in and have since withdrawn from the Super League. All six English teams are now officially out and this is nothing short of a victory for fan power.
In their statement, the club admitted that their decision was influenced by the reaction from the fans, the United Kingdom government and other key stakeholders.
