Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has taken to Instagram in what appears to be the first reaction by an active Red Devils star regarding the proposed European Super League (ESL).

The Portuguese superstar’s reaction was in response to a post made by Wolverhampton Wanderers star Daniel Podence. The 25-year-old posted a picture of himself while at Olympiakos, celebrating scoring a goal in the UEFA Champions League.

Podence accompanied the picture with a number of special moments from the competition’s history that he considers iconic. Interestingly, this also included Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s moment of magic against Bayern Munich in 1999.

While Fernandes did not explicitly state anything, he liked the post and also went on to comment ‘Enorme’, meaning Enormous in Portuguese.

This is the first reaction we have seen from a player on the active United roster. Whether more of them will speak their mind remains to be seen.

Growing disdain?

While the opinion of current players is still unknown, the same cannot be said of former stars. Both Gary Neville and Rio Ferdinand have come out strongly against the club’s decision to partake in the European Super League.

The same can be said of supporters who have made their feelings known. Apart from the clubs, it would be fair to say that there is what appears to be a unanimous backlash against the decision.

The Manchester United Supporters Trust also came out against the proposals, calling them unacceptable and shocking.
