Transfer News: Manchester United leading the race for Ousmane Dembele
According to transfer news from Sport Witness, Manchester United are leading the race for Ousmane Dembele. Along with United, Juventus are also said to be after the Barcelona winger and in good stead for his signing. They are followed by Liverpool and PSG in the running for his signature.
The 23-year-old joined Barcelona in 2017 for big money but has not shown a consistent run of performances. Both injuries and inconsistency have seen him struggle to produce his best on a regular basis. With his contract expiring in 2022, Barcelona are running out of time to renew his deal.
While Dembele has had his share of injury problems and was almost heading out of the club last summer, he has managed to turn things around this season.
Amidst Barcelona’s upturn in form, Dembele has been a central part, scoring 10 goals and assisting 4 in 37 appearances. However, it could all be in vain for Barcelona as they could lose the player next season if they cannot extend his contract.
Juventus have been reported to be serious about signing the player and are working on ways to do the same. However, they cannot pursue the player directly as they lack the necessary funds to do so. They will either have to offer a player in a swap deal or sell one of their players to generate the cash to pay Barca.

That leaves Manchester United with a good chance to nick off the deal. Right-wing has for long been the one position that United have failed to pin down.
Amad Diallo was signed in January but the Ivorian is too young right now to make that position his own. his is exactly where a deal for Dembele could be useful.
