Tahith Chong to delay Manchester United future talks

According to news from IB Times, Tahith Chong has delayed talks about his Manchester United future. The Dutch starlet is currently on loan at Club Brugge, which is the second loan spell for him this season. He spent the first half at Werder Bremen.

Fierce competition for places at United has seen the youngster seek playing time elsewhere to continue his development. An extension to his stay in Belgium has not been ruled out as the player continues to consider his options.

Chong’s career could be heading towards a crossroad and he will need to make a decision soon. He currently has one year left on his United deal and it remains to be seen if he features in Ole Gunnar Solskajer’s plans.

However, he wants to put all that talk about his future on the back burner and concentrate on his football for now.

“I look at it step by step. If I start thinking about where I want to be next year, I wouldn’t be focused on Anderlecht next Sunday. I can only do my utmost. And enjoy the game.

I always try to play football with a smile. My focus is now on the two remaining matches and the play-offs. You will have to prove yourself there anyway.”

He added that he will consult his family about his future. Only then he will decide what to do next.

Much was expected of Chong following his elevation to the United first-team in 2019. He has since made 16 appearances for the Red Devils.

While there have been moments, there has not been a standout performance that has showcased he could be something special. Whether he will choose to leave or stay put at United remains to be seen.
