Manchester United given new hope in their pursuit of Jadon Sancho

According to The Express, Manchester United have been given new hope in their efforts to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

The German giants are now open to selling their star winger heading into the summer transfer window. One of the best young players of his generation, United have been long time admirers of Sancho.

In fact, it is common knowledge that the club were keen on signing him last summer. The saga passed and he ended up staying put at the Westfalenstadion.

A year on, United have been heavily linked with Sancho’s Dortmund teammate Erling Haaland. However, the club find themselves in a deja vu situation where the player could be priced out of our reach.

With all eyes on the Norwegian, United could make a beeline for the English winger. Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke insists the club will listen to ‘exceptional’ offers for Sancho.

“Jadon Sancho has been with us much longer than Erling Haaland. We’ll have to speak to Jadon too. If there is an exceptional offer, we will discuss it with the player and the agent, as always.”

Watzke expects a rather limited summer window where not many clubs can make big money moves. With the world yet to recover from the coronavirus pandemic, finances are at a premium and could influence recruitment.

United believe a valuation of about £50-60m is a realistic figure in the current climate. Whether Dortmund share that belief is a different matter.
