Solskjaer claims Man United are struggling with a busy schedule

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes his side are struggling following their busy schedule

According to The Daily Star, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appeared to have his excuses ready following the FA Cup quarter-final loss away to Leicester City.

The Red Devils went into the game in high spirits after an impressive win away at the San Siro. While Solskajer did ring in the changes, the team we put out had the quality to go and get the job done.

However, it was not to be and the Foxes came out as comfortable winners. While introspection is needed, Solskjaer appears to be looking for excuses.

“I do feel the accumulation of games is starting to tell.”

The United boss admitted his side lacked their usual zeal and hunger. He also went on to suggest that it was due to a busy schedule where the games have been coming thick and fast.

“We just couldn’t find our spark or brightness. Maybe the games are catching up with us but we just didn’t have any real zip.”

Solskjaer also pointed out the injuries that United have suffered in recent weeks. While it is true that some players have taken a knock, only Marcus Rashford was the major absentee from the matchday squad at the King Power Stadium.

“We’ve suffered with six or seven injuries, a lot in the same positions, but that’s something we’re going to have to get used.”

Crying wolf

If anything, Solskjaer’s counterpart Brendan Rodgers has more reason to complain regarding injuries. The Foxes boss was without the likes of Cengiz Under, James Maddison, Ricardo Pereira, Harvey Barnes and James Justin.

The fact that they could still get the better of us in spite of their injury woes is very troubling indeed.

Untied may be second in the Premier League and could even go all the way in the Europa League. It would appear that bursts of success mask a larger issue that gets swept under the carpet at United.

United would have been better served had Solskjaer given answer to the questions posed on the field than off it. The Norwegian is staring at potentially another season without a trophy. Sooner or later, something has got to give.
