Transfer News: Manchester United lose out in the race for Soumaila Coulibaly
According to Football Insider, Manchester United have some bad news on the transfer front regarding Paris Saint-Germain sensation Soumaila Coulibaly.
The 17-year-old is very highly rated and was also pursued by Spanish giants Barcelona. Both clubs have however lost out to Borussia Dortmund who have won the race to land Coulibaly.
This is the third time that the Germans have trumped us to a player in reent windows. Erling Haaland moved to the Signal Iduna Park in January 2020 while Jude Bellingham followed half a year later.
As they say, bad things happen in three and hopefully this is the last time that the Germans have got one over us.
A giant of a player, Coulibaly is a physically imposing defender who can grow into one of the best in the business. As per the report, he has signed a pre-contract with Dortmund and will join them in the summer.
The likes of not just United and Barcelona but also PSG and Bayern Munich offered the player a contract that was eventually rejected.
Such is Coulibaly’s talent that he has agreed on the move despite being currently injured. The teenager ruptured his knee ligament in a training session in mid-February.
The setback was poorly timed given that the player was training with the first team. However, if he lives up to his potential, this should prove to be just a slight inconvenience on the road to greatness.

United have signed a number of budding young talents in recent years. The likes of Amad Diallo and Shola Shoretire made their first-team debuts this year while Hannibal Mejbri agreed to fresh terms yesterday.
We may have missed out on Coulibaly but there is plenty of talent coming through the United grapevine.
