Ole Gunnar Solskjaer responds to talks of new contract at Manchester United
Speaking after the win against West Ham United on Sunday (h/t Metro), Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deflected attention from rumours about a new contract for him at the club.
The Norwegian took over as a permanent manager at Old Trafford back in March 2019. He is now close to completing two years of his 3-year contract that he was offered by the club at the time of his appointment.
And in the past weeks, reports have linked the former Cardiff City boss with a contract extension at United. He finally had the chance to address the claims himself, but was coy in his reply.
He simply stated that his focus only lies on his job, which he carries out each day. He has led United to the FA Cup quarter-final and Europa League last-16 this season, with the club sitting pretty in 2nd position on the league table.
“My thoughts are very much on doing my job as well as I can, every single day. That’s all my focus is on.”
The jury is still out on Solskjaer. While the club seems to have improved, he is yet to land a single piece of silverware during his time at the club.
The club is primed to finish top-4 in the league two seasons in a row for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. (h/t Metro)
And on top of that, the Red Devils have made 4 semi-finals under him so far, with a chance to make two more this season.

But all of that should get converted into at least appearances in the final so United could be back to competing for trophies again. It remains to be seen if the club do offer him a contract, but if they do, it wouldn’t be the worst decision in the world.
