Manchester United want to sign Ben White next summer

According to journalist Jonathan Shrager (h/t Leeds Live), Manchester United have contacted Brighton over the signing of Ben White next summer. The 23-year-old English defender has become a regular name for Brighton ever since returning from his loan spell at Leeds.

Manchester United gaffer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be in the hunt for a central defender who is good with the ball at his feet and can play on the left side of the central defence. A whole plethora of names have been linked to the English side.

Dayot Upamecano was one such name before he pledged his future to Bayern Munich. Then there was his teammate Ibrahima Konate. Nonetheless, newer reports have pushed the idea that Solskjaer may be looking within the country itself for a solution.

United are said to have made enquiries and kept tabs on White’s development for a while now. White is a promising player who returned to Brighton last summer after a successful loan spell at Championship winners Leeds United. The youngster’s ability to play out from the back is seen as a major draw.

White could just be the perfect partner for Maguire at United. He is calm and collective on the ball with an eye for a pass. However, any move for the Seagulls star will not be easy, with both Leeds and Liverpool keeping tabs on him too.
