According to Express, Manchester United are set to go up against Chelsea for the signing of Gianluca Mancini. The Roma defender has been in sublime form and that has attracted the attention of the aforementioned sides. However, it is his £27m valuation that will appeal to both sides.

Featuring in 23 Serie A games for Roma, the central defender has scored four goals and kept 7 clean sheets. He joined Roma this season on a permanent deal after spending the last season on loan. An interesting fact is that Mancini was a target for Everton during his Atalanta days.

While Roma are not really keen on letting their prized young player leave, the effects of the pandemic could force them into doing so. It is believed that a bid of around £27m could be enough to sign him away from the Italian side.

It is no secret that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is after a new centre-back. He wants someone to partner Harry Maguire as the likes of Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly haven’t proved to be consistent so far. The Red Devils have also kept names like Jules Kounde and Ibrahima Konate on their radar. (h/t Daily Mail).
