Harry Maguire says Manchester United are keen to end the good start Chelsea have had with Thomas Tuchel

Speaking in an interview before the game on Sunday (h/t Manchester Evening News), Harry Maguire heaped praise on Chelsea for their good start under Thomas Tuchel but said that Manchester United want to spoil it.

Chelsea and Manchester United go head-to-head this Sunday in a mouth-watering clash at Stamford Bridge. Both clubs were title contenders earlier in this season but are now more likely to target a top-4 finish.

Chelsea employed Thomas Tuchel just last month after firing manager Frank Lampard. That has seen a change in fortunes for the Blues as they have turned their form around.

However, Maguire stated that United are keen to spoil the good run that Chelsea have enjoyed.

“They’re keeping their position very nicely and build up really well and [are] not conceding many goals, so it’s a good start [for them]. We’re hoping to spoil that.”

The Blues are yet to lose under their new German manager and have so far garnered 14 points out of a possible 18 in the Premier League under him. And, Maguire acknowledged the progress Chelsea have made recently.

“It’s a great reaction [to Tuchel’s appointment]. They’re a great group of players with tons of talent and the money they spent in the summer, they’re starting to gel, starting to tick.”

The two sides met earlier this season in October 2020, when the game ended in a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford. That time, however, Chelsea had Frank Lampard at the helm.
