Manchester United keeping tabs on Aston Villa star Tyrone Mings
According to ESPN, Manchester United are keeping tabs on Aston Villa’s star defender Tyrone Mings.
The 27-year-old is a colossus at the back for Villa as they enjoy an excellent season. Having staved off relegation on the final day, the Villains are now pushing for European qualification.
Mings has been central to their success and this has seen him get added to United’s shortlist of defenders. The Red Devils are keen to bring in a dependable partner for skipper Harry Maguire at centre-back.
United have conceded more goals than any other team in the top nine. The fact that we are still in the title race shows the adverse impact that the leaky backline has had.
The fact that we are in contention despite our deficiencies shows this team lacks balance. Bringing in the right players will address it.
One of the major issues to be addressed is central defence. While Mings remains an option, the list also includes stellar names such as Jules Kounde of Sevilla, Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and David Carmo of Sporting Braga.
Dayot Upamecano was also linked with the Red Devils. However, he appears to be on his way to Bayern Munich, forcing us to look elsewhere.
Villa fans remain confident that Mings will stay put and reject any advances from Old Trafford. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has built a team full of promise and potential.
Whether the 27-year-old can turn down the opportunity should it come to pass, remains to be seen.
