Manchester United starlet Facundo Pellistri joins Alaves on loan
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United youngster Facundo Pellistri has joined La Liga side Alaves on loan for the remainder of the season.
The 19-year-old joined United from Penarol on summer deadline day last year. Despite impressing at the youth level, he is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Red Devils.
The Uruguayan signed a five-year deal with United and has played in two EFL Trophy games for United U-23s. He scored in the defeat against Accrington Stanley in December.
The move to Spain has been made with the intention of seeing him garner regular first-team game time, something United cannot guarantee at this point.
Currently in 18th spot, Alaves are in real danger of being relegated. A major issue they have been facing is finding the back of the net. Only three teams have scored fewer goals than them in La Liga, necessitating an impetus in attack.
Hopefully, this will see Pellistri step up and showcase the ability we all know he possesses. Pellistri had also garnered attention from another La Liga side, Celta Vigo. (h/t Express)
An opportunity to take advantage of
With the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Edinson Cavani, and Mason Greenwood all available, United are stacked up front. With Ivorian wonderkid Amad Diallo also joining the ranks, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has enough options to call upon.
This would have severely affected Pellistri’s chances of experiencing game time with the senior side. Given the situation, a move to Alaves would be a boon to all parties.
Moreover, having to go to yet another foreign country at such a young age will go a long way in helping Pellistri mature on and off the pitch.

Pellistri was on the bench for United against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League. He was potentially denied a debut in the FA Cup against Watford after he contracted Covid-19 earlier in January.
Hopefully, he will make full use of this opportunity and return to United as a much-improved player.
